District 214 recognized for budget presentation and transparency
The Association of School Business Officials International has again recognized High School District 214 for excellence in budget presentation with the Meritorious Budget Award (MBA) - this time for the 2019–2020 budget year. A year ago, District 214 was among only 14 districts in Illinois to earn this distinction.
ASBO International’s MBA and Pathway to the MBA promote and recognize best budget presentation practices in school districts. Participants submit their applications and budget documents to a panel of school financial professionals who review the materials for compliance with the MBA criteria checklist and other requirements and provide expert feedback that districts can use to improve their budget documents.
ASBO says of the recognition: “Districts that apply to the MBA or Pathway to the MBA programs recognize the importance of presenting a quality, easy-to-understand budget internally and to the community. Participating in the MBA and Pathway programs provides districts with important tools and resources they need to communicate the district’s goals and objectives clearly and illustrates their commitment to adhering to nationally recognized budget presentation standards.”
District 214 Board President Dan Petro said “We appreciate the Association of School Business Officials International’s recognition that we are committed to transparency in all financial and budget matters. We know that this is a vital responsibility to our community and we appreciate the outstanding work in this area done by Cathy Johnson, our Associate Superintendent for Finance and Operations, and her team.”
