Public education is about learning, and through learning we discover our future. As educators, we believe it’s our responsibility to encourage every student to explore academic and co-curricular opportunities that will inspire them to find their passion and reach their potential. Teachers are challenged to use technology to transform learning, take risks, share what they’ve learned and be innovative leaders in instructional practices. Students are challenged to explore the many available learning opportunities both in and out of classrooms, to examine career pathways and to utilize the District’s many resources to discover the interests and passions that could shape their lives beyond high school.
District 214 is lauded as a destination district because of our employees, students, parents, business and community partners, alumni and retirees. We welcome you to our District and invite you to see all the ways we prepare students for success.
District 214 offers a comprehensive curriculum within our Career Pathways Program that provides students with the opportunity to discover their future while they earn early college credit, attain industry credentials and complete work based learning experiences all before they leave high school.
Co-curricular activities provide students with opportunities to engage in athletics and other activities that enrich their education and further develop the core values of respect, responsibility, caring, fairness, trustworthiness and good citizenship.
We are 214. We have asked teachers to inspire and motivate students in a learning environment that none of us had ever experienced. They have risen to the challenge, devoting countless hours to ensuring that equally rigorous opportunities are available to students learning at home and students in our buildings. They have worked with students to learn in new ways and have provided them with invaluable support throughout these difficult months. Our educators have been a shining example of professionalism and dedication to serving our students and our community.
Finding the best way for students to learn and achieve success is of utmost importance to the State of Illinois and the nation as a whole. College and career success is critical to our national and state economy and has become a national priority. The Career Clusters and related Career Pathways serve as an organizing tool for schools, small learning communities, academies and magnet schools to develop more effective programs of study and curriculum.
Do you remember the first time someone believed in you more than you believed in yourself? The first time you overcame a monumental challenge? The first time you realized your success was empowered by people who gave you a chance to excel? You can gift those moments. The District 214 Education Foundation believes the best way to empower our schools and our communities is to come together with the recognition that we are all part of something greater than ourselves, and the knowledge that, working together, we can make a difference.
