The first full day of classes will be Monday, August 15, 2022. Township High School District 214 uses an On-Line Registration and Fee Payment Process. You may complete your registration at home or at any location where you have Internet access.

Hersey's Todd Hatfield earns VFW regional honor
John Hersey High School multimedia teacher Todd Hatfield recalls one of the last conversations with his father. “He looked right at me and said, ‘You have to keep this going for as long as you can.’” Helping veterans is personal for Hatfield. His father was a Vietnam veteran and was awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart for heroic service in combat.

McCormick named Illinois Special Education Teacher of the Year
Nicole McCormick, special education teacher at District 214’s Specialized Schools, has been named Illinois Special Education Teacher of the Year for 2023. McCormick also is a finalist for the statewide Illinois Teacher of the Year award.

Ayala named Cook County Co-Regional Teacher of the Year
Michael Ayala, world languages teacher at John Hersey High School, has been named Cook County Co-Regional Teacher of the Year for 2023. Ayala is also a finalist for the statewide Illinois Teacher of the Year award, which will be announced later this year.

Rolling Meadows’ Eileen Hart named region’s Principal of the Year
Rolling Meadows principal Eileen Hart was selected as Principal of the Year by the North Cook Region of the Illinois Principals Association. The annual Horace Mann/IPA High School Principal of the Year Awards recognize outstanding high school administrators who provide high quality learning opportunities for students.

D214 Special Olympics team show skills in Night of Hoops event
The D214 Special Olympics team showed off their skills in the Night of Hoops event at Hersey High School. This annual event is held with Barrington High School, but the host school switches every other year. It serves as a fundraiser for Special Olympics Region B in the northwest suburbs.

Hersey student in the fast lane to success through apprenticeship
Abraham Lopez is the latest in a long line of District 214 students to pursue their career interest at Arlington Heights Ford. The John Hersey High School student became an apprentice auto technician at Arlington Heights Ford last summer. Lopez graduated a semester early and now is working full time at the dealership, while working on his industry training and certification.

Twenty D214 music students selected for All-State honors
Twenty students from High School District 214 schools have been selected to perform at this year’s Illinois Music Education Association (ILMEA) All-State Festival, the highest honor a high school musician can achieve. All-State musicians will travel to Peoria, IL from January 25-28, 2023 to participate in the Illinois Music Education Conference.

Student takes control of her future through D214 Specialized School
When Madelin Luna first arrived in District 214 as an incoming junior, she faced challenging adjustments. During the pandemic, she had been taking all her classes remotely at her previous school—and loved it. But entering the 2021-22 school year, remote classes were no longer an option. The transition felt a bit overwhelming. She felt anxious.
