Elk Grove High School unveils new Culinary Lab

Published October 15, 2024

The new state-of-the-art culinary lab at Elk Grove High School is officially open. This $1.6 million project, made possible in part by a generous $750,000 grant from Elk Grove Village, transforms culinary education in District 214, providing students with a hands-on learning environment that rivals professional kitchens.

The new culinary lab spans 2,309 square feet and is outfitted with top-tier equipment, including six gas ranges, commercial-grade ovens, mixers, dishwashers, griddles and other industry-standard tools. An adjacent classroom will serve multiple purposes, from hosting instructional lessons and catering events to providing a space for students to showcase their culinary creations. The upgraded facilities will ensure students have access to cutting-edge resources and real-world experiences in the culinary field.

To mark the completion of this exciting project, Elk Grove High School hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony where guests enjoyed delicious treats crafted by our talented culinary students.

Special attendees at the event included members of the District 214 Board of Education, school administrators, representatives from Pepper Construction, and officials from Elk Grove Village, whose support made this transformation possible.
